How do you make a MagSafe Qi2 charger more interesting? Give it some light, something Australia’s Journey is dabbling in.
With the launch of Qi2 25W and the adoption of the MagSafe successor on Google’s Pixel 10 range, it’ll become pretty clear soon that the magnetic Qi2 will finally (finally!) make its way out to more devices.
It’s not just iPhones that will get magnetic charging. That only took a few years.
Even though the phones are finally changing and moving to support the tech, you only need glance at the styles of chargers to see that most companies are building a variation on a theme.
Over at IFA, Australia’s Journey looks to be changing it up, launching a couple of charging stands designed not only to look a little different, but more importantly function that way, too.
One of the few companies with a combo Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods charger built into a battery bank, Journey is no stranger to thinking outside the box, and with its upcoming Aria and Summit chargers, it’s definitely doing that.
In the Aria, Journey’s has built a fold-up stand that will hold an iPhone upright, working in both portrait and landscape. It’ll work both standing up and lying down, and nn the side, there’s a touch-activated ambient light to make it easy to switch on a light.
There’s a different approach on Journey’s Summit charger, which features a slide-up fabric section that can move your phone to a different spot on the stand and even hide a pair of AirPods behind it.
They’ll both support wireless charging, with the Aria covering 15W wireless charging while the Summit will come in two options: a 15W and a 25W.
Journey’s wireless chargers are on the way alongside updates to the company’s “Loc8” tracking gadgets, which now include key organisers, a laptop sleeve, and a tracking tag, and which work with both the Apple Find My and Google Find Hub ecosystems.
There’s no direct word on pricing yet, but we expect its IFA launches to be available in Australia shortly, likely around the same time of an iPhone 17 launch, expected next week following an announcement this week.
