With magnetic charging coming to more devices, we’re seeing more in the way of magnetic charging stands.
PixelSnap is over on the Pixel 10 range, and thanks to Qi 25W, it can snap and charge quickly on the flagship models. Meanwhile, we’re also seeing at least one new budget model get magnetic charging, with the iPhone 17e set for the tech when it arrives shortly.
Which makes it just about on time for more accessory and peripheral makers to offer their own take on where charging stands can go next.
Australia’s Journey is one such, and it’s coming along with a couple of new models built similarly to one that scored a Best Pick award last year. While the fold-up Journey Aria managed to impress this publication in a big way last year, not everyone needs a fold-up charger.

That could be where the Summit range picks up from, offering a triangular charging pad that looks a little like a mountain with an Apple Watch charging puck out the back. Inside this mountain is a charger for AirPods (or any other wirelessly charged pair of earbuds), as well as a little light that makes it a bit like a bed-side nightlight of sorts.
The charging pad itself can hide that, or it can be moved up to raise a phone up that little bit more, supporting either portrait or landscape modes.
Journey is making two of these — the Summit and Summit Ultra — but working out the difference can be a little interesting, because it’s a little more than simply going on price alone.

Between the two devices, there are minor differences in power and design. The regular Summit runs wireless charging up to 15 watts and keeps its charging under the fabric, while the Summit Ultra places the charging pad on top of the fabric because it runs a little hotter from the 25 watt wireless charging it uses.
Other than that, the devices are very similar, except on price, where the standard 15W Summit will cost $170 in Australia, while the 25W Summit Ultra hasn’t yet been officially released locally, but will likely start from around $200.
