The government is about to do a test, and anyone in Australia with a powered-on mobile phone (and potentially a powered-on wearable) could end up hearing that test at once.
At 2PM Sydney time on July 27, the government will test its “AusAlert” system nationwide, meaning anyone with an active mobile should see an alert and hear an alarm of sorts.
