Buying a new phone can be a costly affair, particularly one where the features are a little more high-end, like bundling in water resistance. That’s been the general go for the past, well forever, but it appears this year there may be movement.
We’ve seen one water resistant handset from Xiaomi announced for under $800, and now we’re seeing Oppo undercut even that.
Simply put, Oppo’s latest Reno range will come with water resistance whether you spend under $700 for the Reno 15 F 5G, or if you spend a little over double that at $1399 for the Reno 15 Pro 5G.
Both models come with big screens but are different despite their names, with the Reno15 F a 6.57 inch phone, while the Reno 15 Pro is 6.32 inches, though the Pro does appear to be better made with an aluminium frame. However, they both get IP69 water resistance, making them resistant to water and dust in much the same way as the current iPhone range.

They both offer batteries over 6000mAh and come with 80W wired charging. They even both get similar selfie cameras, using a 50 megapixel ultra-wide selfie at the front.
Where the phones start to differ is other cameras and processor, which can explain the severe price change.
In the $679 Reno 15 F, the cameras are more like what you’d expect on a mid-range phone today, offering a 50 megapixel wide, 8 megapixel ultra-wide, and 2 megapixel macro. Meanwhile, on the $1399 Reno 15 Pro, everything is a little better, including a 200 megapixel wide, a 50 megapixel ultra wide, and a 50 megapixel telephoto.
The Oppo Reno 15 Pro is more like a high-end phone than a mid-range anything.

The processors are a little different, too, but the crux is that Oppo’s Reno series has two price points with more durable models that offer a lot of battery life and a lot of power in that selfie camera, and that could benefit folks looking to make content for TikTok and the like.
“From a more compact Pro design to creator-first camera features, long-lasting battery life and fast charging, the series is designed to fit naturally into everyday use,” said Michael Tran, Managing Director at Oppo Australia.
“By offering multiple models at different price points, we’re able to bring great creative tools to a wider audience,” he said.
Oppo’s Reno 15 range is available now at retailers across the country.
