Ninja makes the blender a tumbler to go

The blender bottle has been a thing you’ve been able to take on the go, but Ninja’s latest take on the tech is all about giving you a proper way to drink: a tall glass of smooth(ie).

Pulverising any fruit or food to something near a liquid is more or less in the power of any kitchen, and we all have the blender to thank.

These gadgets made of a motor and blades are the reason many of us have smoothies and frappes and margaritas and the like, but they’re typically made to pour as opposed to take with you. That started changing a few years ago with the “bullet” variety of the appliance, grabbing a small blender bottle that you could transport with ease.

The maker of the Slushi gadget appears to be game to try a different approach with its latest blender, replacing the bottle with something a little easier to drink from: a good and proper cup.

Technically it’s a tumbler, with the Ninja BlendBoss offering a leakproof spot of drinkware that’s designed to plug directly into Ninja’s compact blender, which itself kind of looks like a vibrant UFO of sorts made for your kitchen counter.

The hardware includes a 1100-watt motor and connects to a 760ml tumbler, which is basically a cup you can drink from on the go, taking it with you on your travels.

In short, it means the BlendBoss can quickly make a smoothie and grab the whole thing to run, with a leakproof flip cap to keep you clean as you run. There’s even a lid for a straw.

The BlendBoss blender clearly has a focus on what it’s been made to do, with three programs to make the thing work, covering smoothie, focus, and blend. Drinks are clearly the main use, but the stainless steel blades could also make something else using one of those three options.

At $199.99 in Australia, the price looks to be fairly friendly, too, though there is a catch: Ninja’s BlendBoss lacks pricing for extra tumblers should you need them. There are several colours for the range, but no pricing or availability details for the blender cups themselves.

Right now that’s bad, simply because it means you’ll be limited to making smoothies and such from the one cup, rather than being able to have spares all week.

That said, we suspect accessories won’t be far away, and could be a handy way later on to keep you making beverages without needing to rely on the dishwasher too much.
