As the months start to get seriously warm, getting the friends together for a barbecue and parties might start to become more normal. And so too likely will cold drinks.
Hot days demand a cool down of some kind, and that seems to be a place where gadgets seem primed to help. Whether a form of ice cream maker or iced drinks, technology can be used for more than simply keeping food cold in the fridge.
Ninja’s latest gadget definitely seems suited for that, though it does look to be a touch bigger than its last model. And that may well be the point.
The Slushi Twist is effectively a bigger take on the previous Slushi model, of which there’s also already a larger generation. In fact, the Twist goes a little further: rather than simply being bigger, it houses two slushy barrels, allowing the drinks to come together in a literal twist.
Together, there’s a total of 4.2 litres of drink making capability made from two 2.1 lite containers, and a spot of technology Ninja calls “Dual SlushAssist” which basically is built to detect the ingredients being used and adjust the temperature.
Effectively, sensors work to detect the freezing point of the liquid, which in turn appears to help the machine balance the time and temperature for the slushy you’re trying to make. Or in this case, the slushy made of two types of slushy.
With that temperature control, you won’t need ice in the system, and as we learned reviewing the first Ninja Slushi, ice isn’t compatible. The machine needs liquids with some form of sugar to make the slushy in the first place, skipping ice and therefore skipping dilution.
You will however need to spend a pretty penny for the dual-barrel Slushi Twist, with this model priced at $750 in Australia. Availability appears to be now, though it also might be one of those special orders that doesn’t make its way to stores, going specifically to Ninja’s website for the privilege.
