Technology and cooking have always gone together, but in recent years, it can seem like the category has benefitted from some solid evolutions. In at least one way, it feels as though small appliances are learning one of the neat tricks your phone has mastered: convergence.
Namely, it’s the ability to be a jack of all trades and still managing to master some of those skills at the same time. That effectively means cooking tech that can actively fill the role of several jobs, rather than forcing you to reach for the pots and pans because the cooking skill isn’t up to scratch.
Ninja has been experimenting with its gadgets for a while, and its latest appears to look at the colder months and people with no time almost exclusively: a pressure cooker with multi-cooker capabilities.

The Ninja Hyperheat 9-in-1 almost feels like it’s built from a methodology imparted to other Ninja appliances about making them do more, bringing an electric pressure cooker together with a control system to cover slow cooking, rice, pasta, sautéing and searing, steaming, and yoghurt making, alongside one surprise aspect: sous vide.
Yes, the water bath method of cooking is part of the package, using a 1200 watt heating element to turn the power up in a 6 litre removable pot that can also sit on the table, similar to the container approach Ninja uses on its Crispi air fryer.
The heating speed is the other factor, cooking foods with speed thanks to the gadget’s “Hyperheat”, which is effectively just a rapid heating element that works with the container inside the appliance to build pressure and heat the internals to cook with.

As for the ninth cooking approach mentioned in the name, that comes down to merely keeping food warm, which is hardly a technique, but could be handy depending on what time the kids decide to come out for dinner.
Australians can expect to find the Ninja Hyperheat 9-in-1 Multicooker in stores now, priced from $299.
