Limited edition headphones typically aren’t made for kids, but Belkin’s revamp of the Soundform Mini with Stitch definitely has the little ones in mind.
The real-life edition of Disney’s Lilo and Stitch may be the talk right now thanks to the new film, but a special edition of a variant of Belkin’s kids headphones is looking more to the classic cartoon.
It has been some time since the original “Stitch” graced our screens, but the character lives on in Disney, used in lots of places. Stitch is that mischievous and playful yet caring character that can save the day, and almost certainly hasn’t been seen on a pair of headphones.
And yet that is what Belkin is doing with a limited edition pair designed for kids, a revamp of something it launched a few years ago in the Soundform Mini On-Ear headphones.
Not a lot has changed since the original came out, with the kids headphones offering an on-ear style with button controls, up to 30 hours of play time, and a built-in volume limiter maxing out to a level of 85dB, which your kids shouldn’t ideally get to anyway.
However, Belkin has given its Soundform Mini Stitch edition something to look forward to: a picture of cartoon (almost manga) Stitch on each side of the blue and white headphones.
Belkin has even addressed one of our criticisms in the original Soundform Mini review, adding a sheet of stickers in the box. Now that’s something kids will want, and true to the expectation, this reviewer’s kids immediately started sticking them on when they were seen.
In terms of pricing, the Stitch headphones are a little more than they were when they first came out, priced at $59.95 compared to the $39.95 the Soundform Mini once occupied. Granted, a few years have changed, Stitch has arrived, and there are stickers.
Frankly, that’s not terrible in the grand scheme of things, even though the JBL Jr headphones also offer solid competition in terms of price and capability.
You’ll find the Stitch Soundform Mini available shortly for $59.95 in Australia and $69.95 in New Zealand, this pair seemingly an exclusive from the Belkin website.
