Quick review
The good
The not-so-good
Chargers that simply prop up your phone, watch, and earphones are the norm, keeping them wirelessly charged. But what if you’re after something a little more impressive? Australia’s Journey Summit is a charger worth taking on.
Technology can do some pretty clever things, and now that pretty much every current iPhone supports magnetic wireless charging, it means you can bring an almost sense of “magical” charging to any iPhone, and even a bunch of Android phones, as well.
While the magnets of MagSafe and Qi2 can be found more on the Apple side of phones, cases and built-in magnets from Qi2 25W means Pixels and Galaxy models are getting it, too. Google’s PixelSnap for the Pixel 10, 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL, and 10 Pro Fold all support it, as do cases for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Even the Leica phone we checked out recently came with a magnetic charging case.
Magnetic charging is everywhere, and of course, so are the chargers for them. The bedside and desk-based models are typically the ones that grab us most, because they’ll also handle your watch and earphones, though usually if you live in the Apple ecosystem.
But while they all do something similar, they can also be a little same-same at times. After all, they all stand a phone up at a slight angle, and charge other devices up. They’re simply designed to bring a little convenience to your bedside.
Is there any other way of doing it?
It turns out Australia’s Journey might have found something else to throw in, offering two versions of its Summit charging stand dependent on just how much charging speed you really need.
What is the Journey Summit?

Australia’s Journey has shown itself to experiment with magnetic chargers ever since it popped into existence, showing how MagSafe could successfully work with desk mats and laptop sleeves, and even tackling water bottles.
One of its more recent takes has been a highly portable stand with a light built in, the Journey Aria. Easily one of the more interesting gadget chargers, it even managed a Best Pick award last year.
But the Aria was designed to be portable, and so mightn’t have looked as special on a mostly permanent bed side. It’s fine during travel, and folds up nicely, but it lacked the durability and stability of a proper bedside charging stand.
That’s where the Journey Summit and Summit Ultra come in. Variations on a theme, they offer a similar feature set of charging panels for three gadgets, plus a built-in light, and they even come with a modern textile design.

What does it do?
The chargers certainly look fancy, with a panel of fabric on each, clearly being there for a phone, plus a charging fob for an Apple Watch and an internal bay underneath for wireless earphones.
Clearly, the Summit is mostly focused on the tech trio Apple people use most: iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods or AirPods Pro. That’s pretty obvious.
But it can also work with Android, covering Qi2-enabled phones and most wirelessly charged earphones. Android watches need not apply, however, as this charging fob is Apple Watch only. You can fold it back, though.

And that’s possibly the point: instead of make yet-another-charging-stand focused entirely on Apple owners, Android people can benefit here, too. They just fold back the component they don’t need, or in this case, can’t use.
Journey does include one extra feature that everyone can use: a bedside light. Think of the Journey Summit as doing double duty for a bedside lamp, because it kind of is. While you don’t get the massive mood-setting decor glow of a proper light, the tiny warm light above the earphone charging bay (under the phone) is surprisingly bright, and easy to control. Just tap the back of the Summit near the cable, and it’ll turn on and off.

What are the differences?
Much like the Journey Aria, the design is a charger at an angle, though one that comes in two styles: 15W Qi2 and stronger Qi2 25W.
The difference between Journey’s two models is actually a little more than a more powerful charger. The Ultra actually looks a little different, complete with a more obvious charging pad, and also comes with a 45W charging block. The standard Summit has neither.
Both are 3-in-1 wireless charging stations made for iPhone owners with an Apple Watch and AirPods, but because that watch charging fob at the back can also fold backwards, Android owners might opt to use it for the phone and earphones.
Plus the light. Yes, there’s a light on the inside, giving you a sort of nightstand light from the inside of your charger.

Does it do the job?
The whole point of the Journey Summit is to hold your phone up and keep it charged, and both models definitely do that well.
They’ll lift your phone off from the table, and you’ll be able to lift that surface up even more if you like. The angle won’t change — its an angle or nothing — but it’s an angle that can be high or low, with low giving the Summit an almost “mountain” like appearance, hence the name.
Charging is easy, though.
With the Summit Ultra variant, you’ll get a power pack in the box, and you simply need to plug the stand in. Easy. In the standard Journey Summit model, however, there’s no charge pack and it’s more of a BYO situation. That makes the standard Summit a little less easy, but you may already have a power pack from a phone or tablet laying around.

What does it need?
There’s one thing we’d definitely add, however, and it applies to both charging stands: an extra USB-C port.
Imagine if you don’t use that Apple Watch fob. That’s fine, you can push it down. But if you use a Pixel Watch 4 or an Oura Ring, you can’t simply extend it from the charging stand, because there’s no USB-C port for expanding things. You’ll just need to keep it plugged in some other way, and that’s a bit of a shame.
There’s also a minor issue with the tightness of how the panel holds when heavy phones are on it, and the heavier the phone, the less likely the Summit’s panel will stay up.

This happened on both the Summit and the Summit Ultra, with a PixelSnap-ready Pixel 10 Pro Fold pushing it down slightly. Heavier cases on an iPhone might also do this, so just be aware.
In fact, on the standard model Summit, the magnets also weren’t as strong as they were on the Ultra, so an opened Pixel Fold actually tilted at an angle. Granted, it’s probably more made for someone who owns the iPhone 17e than a large foldable phone, but it’s worth understanding all the same.
Meanwhile, folks with a Samsung Galaxy S model and a MagSafe-ready or Qi2 case, you have a different problem: your phone won’t comfortably mount to either model because your cameras get in the way. We tried, and it’s not Journey’s problem, but rather Samsung’s.

Is it worth your money?
Priced from $170 in Australia, the Journey Summit is actually quite balanced price-wise, competing with models from Belkin that cost a little more, priced from $205 in the 2-in-1 BoostCharge Pro, and options from the same brand that even cost more, as well.
In Australia, the Journey Summit Ultra is priced around $220 ($219.95 actually), which is the same price as the Belkin UltraCharge Pro 3-in-1, another exceptional charger. Both are similar in feature set, but different in design: Belkin’s has a minimalist thing going, while Journey’s textile-led approach stands out in a different way.
But both are also fast, capable, and offer similar features for the same price, with the main difference being the Belkin can lean the phone back the entire way, and the Journey comes with a light.
From a value perspective, they’re both quite good in that way, but the $170 model achieves better value altogether. Similar features, but a better price. We’re reviewing both at the same time, so we know which one we’re giving a few more marks to.

Yay or nay?
No charger is perfect, however. There’s always going to be someone that can’t use something.
But Journey’s take on the bedside stand in the Summit and Summit Ultra is one of the nicest chargers we’ve played with, and a variant that stands out. While most makers of these gadgets are all about standing your iPhone up, the Summit is more of a restful take on how charging stands can connect with the home.
It’s just that little bit different. It’s just that little bit more like something IKEA might sell. The Summit is more than just another charging stand, even if it’s that. It’s a nicer stand and properly premium. Recommended.
