ABC Sydney Drive: better phone batteries

New battery chemistry tech promises more juice for your phone. That’s great news, but how do you make the most of your battery life now?

There’s a known fact for most phone owners: the bigger the phone, the more battery life you’re likely to have. It’s not always true, but it is mostly true, and there’s a good reason why: you’ll usually find a bigger battery inside that bigger phone.

But there’s also a change on the horizon thanks in part to a shift in the technology inside the battery.

While lithium-ion os the technology we usually see, phone manufacturers are gradually shifting to a new type called “silicon-carbon” which promises bigger battery sizes in the same space we use now.

Could this mean two or three days worth of battery life are on the horizon? Maybe, but before that technology becomes commonplace, we also need to talk up battery tips and myths.
