At the end of July, mobiles in NSW and the rest of the country will see an alert from the government whether they want it or not. What’s going on?
No matter where you are in NSW, if you’re near a phone connected to a mobile network at 2PM Sydney time on July 27, you will very likely see an alert built as a test. It’s something that will go nationwide rather than simply statewide, as the government tests the AusAlert system built for emergency warnings.
However, July 27’s message and alert will only be a test, but it will be one aimed at triggering any and every recent mobile phone, and possibly a few extra devices thrown in for good measure, such as a few models of the Apple Watch.
