AI music is everywhere, and it might just be changing how you listen to music online. But services are onto it, wiping millions of tracks from the system. What’s going on?
Human-made music isn’t the only sort of music you can now find, now that AI-made music is part of streaming libraries. But not all AI music is the same, and some are clearly more slop than others.
That could be why Spotify is making changes to its library, working out how to cull literally millions of tracks that are simply slop, generated without anything other than code. Not all generative AI music will fall under this banner, but much of it does, with Spotify moving to remove over 75 million tracks this year alone.
