If you used Telstra or a Telstra-based service on the morning of July 8, you probably didn’t have a great day. What happened, and what could you do?
The second Wednesday of July 2026 may well be one of those days Australia’s biggest telco would rather forget. For roughly half a day, the service depended on by millions of people struggled to connect, leaving many without service and businesses without a way to do their job.
Essentially, Telstra’s network crashed, with services struggling to connect or stay connected, as engineered looked to fix the problem immediately.
What went wrong, and what can people do if they’re still having issues?
