Sometimes less is more, but that doesn’t always mean that’s the case. If you’re running a party or gathering of friends, less food doesn’t always equal more filled bellies, and the same is true when it comes to drinks.
In those other times, more is clearly more, and if you’re planning a party, you probably know that all too well.
We didn’t really complain about the size of the Ninja Slushi we reviewed recently, but if you find the idea of the 1.8 litre tank too small, Ninja has an even bigger model on the way.

Sized at a staggering 4.4 litres of frozen beverage, well over twice the size of the original, the Slushi Max is largely a bigger take on the frozen drink making appliance. Technically, that’s actually only holding a maximum of 3.3 litres of liquid, because frozen drinks expand, but it’s still a lot bigger than its predecessor.
Overall, the concept is largely the same, though there are some other changes beyond simply a larger barrel for your soon-to-be-frozen liquids, including a temperature knob as opposed to buttons that raise and lower the temperature.
Of particular note is some technology designed to sense the ingredients and adjust the temperature accordingly. That was one of the points we noted was a slightly problem in the original, which forced us to manually control settings when trying to get a properly slushed version of a cola slushy.

The issue is usually sugar: more sugar apparently makes for a softer slushy, which may explain why creaming soda and raspberry drinks worked better than others at times.
Likewise, both low sugar drinks and alcoholic frozen beverages are apparently helped by the tech, something Ninja calls “SlushAssist”, which should mean that higher alcohol recipes like a frozen margarita becomes easier to make in the machine, as well.
The compressor is also a little faster and possibly a little quieter, but the price is in turn a little more, as well. Not staggeringly more, but at $599 compared to $499, it’s enough to make a dent, and may encroach on my counter space given the increase in size.
Australians can find the Ninja Slushi Max online and at retailers now.
