Alcatel 3T 10

Alcatel offers a 10 inch entertainment tablet for under $350

Need to entertain the kids but don’t want to part ways with an iPad? Alcatel’s latest could offer the respite with a 10 inch that bundles in screen and sound.

Even though kids mean well, sometimes giving a gadget to the kids can end in the gadget’s demise, or something more like a smashed screen with a subsequent repair bill. It’s one more reason why you might not want to hand over a big tablet to the kids, because that nice one you bought yourself probably came with a hefty price tag, and if it were to suddenly drop, it could be an expensive fall.

Providing for kids with a secondary less expensive gadget has become an option for families without the hand-me-down approach. While we do tend to hand technology down with subsequent generations, you mightn’t be there yet, all the while your kids might be clambering for your iPad, Surface, or Galaxy Tab.

However the secondary less expensive gadget can fill that gap, and this week, Alcatel is offering more or less just that, with a 10 inch tablet for well under $500 that not only offers a 10 inch screen size, but also brings with it a dedicated speaker dock.

Released as the Alcatel 3T 10, it’s a 10 inch tablet sporting a mid-range chip and a fairly mid-range HD-only screen, but it’s also not made for big gaming sessions. Rather, the Alcatel 10 inch 3T is built to take entertainment to go, thanks to the inclusion of Android 9 “Pie” and the various apps it gets, with 4G, as well.

The tablet itself offers a max of eight hours of battery life, and while the 16GB storage inside isn’t terribly big, it can be upgraded with a microSD card.

What really helps make the Alcatel 3T 10 value proposition, however, is the inclusion of a speaker dock, allowing the tablet to be plugged in and turned into a media player with a little more oomph.

Granted, Alcatel isn’t exactly known for its audio heritage or prowess, so we’d probably take this one with a grain of salt, but if you have kids looking to be entertained, their own tablet and speaker solution for below $350 could be an attractive proposition.

Locally, you’ll find the Alcatel 3T 10 at Telstra stores for $324, with the tablet also available on plans for $9 every month over 36 months or $13.50 a month over 24 months.
