A new service has launched in Australia, and it means texting for help from nearly anywhere. ABC sends a message to Pickr for an explanation of what’s happening.
Now that Australians no longer have access to the 3G network, mobile support in rural Australia isn’t always easy to come by. But Telstra customers might soon have a way of talking in remote places, or at the very least texting.
Telstra has this week switched on support for SpaceX satellites, allowing select phones to send text messages using a network of satellites from nearly anywhere in the country.
What does this mean, and will be limited to SMS only?
