The rise of robots used in the home is happening, and you could soon find them outside the home, as well. Once mere science fiction, robotics that can help you keep the house clean are becoming more of a norm than a surprise, and the technology used to make them work is now appearing in more places, as well.
You’ve heard of robotic window cleaners, and very likely robotic lawn mowers, as well. That last one is expected to grow in number this year, because robotic vacuum makers are stretching their wheels to meet the lawn, replacing mops with mowing blades.
But the grass isn’t the only place the technology can go.

One of the robotic vacuums that surprised this publication last year, Mova, is back with something made for the pool, if you have one, launching the Diver A10, a robotic pool cleaner that takes the robotic vacuum approach and manages to be waterproof, guiding itself in and cleaning the surfaces of where you swim.
The robotic cleaner uses a combination of suction and filtering to suck in water and remove debris as it moves, picking up sand, leaves, algae, and debris, and locking it inside a 3.5 litre basket as the cleaner moves across the bottom and sides of the pool.
It’ll roll over the walls and bottom, clinging to each rather than simply floating away, using a combination of AI and sensor tracking to work out where it is, and moving back and forth to do its job.

It can even climb the walls and scrub, working 5 centimetres above the waterline to clean the edges, with support for up to 240 minutes of use before needing a charge, with roughly two hours (120 minutes) needed for a pool cleaning cycle (dependent on pool size, of course).
“Your pool doesn’t stop needing attention just because the temperature drops. It makes winter one of the best times to invest in a robotic pool cleaner, helping you stay on top of pool care without braving the cold weather,” said Nancy Zhang, Country Manager at Mova in Australia and New Zealand.
“The robot handles the hard work, but you’re still fully in control of the cleaning process through intuitive apps and smart technology,” she said.
Like other robotic appliances, you’ll need to spend over a thousand dollars to sink into the technology, but priced at $1299, the Mova Diver A10 could just kick off the trend for robotised cleaning outside the home and into the backyard. The A10 is available in stores across the county, found at Amazon, Harvey Norman, Mova’s own site, and other select stockists.
