You might normally think of Apple, Google, and Samsung when it comes to high-end flagship phones, but there are other players who clearly want a taste of the premium package.
Sometimes that sense of premium comes from the company you keep, and the collaborations you form. Take Oppo and its work with Hasselblad, or Xiaomi and the partnership with Leica.
Over at Motorola, we’ve seen some premium design chops by connecting with colour specialists Pantone, and its latest collab focuses on building out the sound capability just that little bit more

This week, Motorola has announced a new flagship named for next year, the Signature 27. That said, it hasn’t announced much, beyond that it will include a collaboration with Bang & Olufsen, which will partner with Motorola for several years and include audio across Motorola’s devices.
Beyond B&O, the phone will include several cameras including a 50 megapixel main wide camera and a 200 megapixel periscope lens, as well as support for optical image stabilisation for snapping sharp stills.
Motorola calls this its most advanced phone, and will use the latest high-end chip from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme, pairing the hardware with a cooling system that uses “diamond-infused thermal gel” along with a copper mesh and a 3D vapour chamber to keep the heat down while processing and activities are up.
Like phones from Google and Samsung, the Motorola Signature 27 will also get seven years of operating system updates and security updates, making it a phone intended to last several years.
One thing we don’t have right now is pricing or an availability date in Australia, though Motorola says the Signature 27 is expected this year, which means it’s likely on the way for October or November, especially if it plans to land before the holiday season well and truly kicks in.
