The iPad can be a great content creation device, but Apple’s native keyboard isn’t cheap. Logitech’s latest folio fixes that, and could even work with your phone.
Tablets may well be the perfect entertainment gadget, what with their big screen providing plenty of space to watch things and play the odd game, but if you have a decent keyboard, they’re a great way to get some writing done, too.
The problem is price.
Glance at Apple’s Magic Keyboard case, and you’ll find a great option with a price that might be less than appealing. The iPad Air model starts from $449, while the iPad Pro variation bumps that up $50 to a $499 starting price. Both are excellent, but neither is particularly wallet-friendly, especially when you’ve already spent a tidy sum on one of those iPad variations.
Logitech could have an answer, though, arriving in a keyboard-equipped tablet case where the keyboard is detachable and can be used on your lap or even on a desk.
It’s called the Flip Folio, and it’s a case with a multi-angle kickstand that folds up, plus a small keyboard that fits to the case when not in use. When that’s the situation, the front of the case and the keyboard help protect the screen.
And when it’s time to open the tablet up for use, the cover becomes the stand magnetically mounting to the tablet, with the keyboard out in front (or where ever you plan on using it).
Magnets are a key part of the Flip Folio design, holding the iPad Air or iPad Pro it’s been made for in place with the stand. You can also rotate the iPad into portrait mode and stand up an iPhone next to the iPad, with the keyboard offering three Bluetooth devices it can connect to and making it possible to type on both iPad and phone rather easily.
The price is probably the most compelling part of the package, too, with a $269.95 price in Australia for the 11 inch variation, compatible with both the 11 inch iPad Air and 11 inch iPad Pro, while the 13 inch model is priced at $289.95 locally made for the 13 inch iPad Air and 13 inch iPad Pro, as well. The Logitech Flip Folio is available now from stores across the country.
