If you fancy yourself as someone with a bit of influence and are concerned by security risks, there may be a new style of security solution on the way.
Security software is known for protecting you from internet nasties like malware and viruses and ransomware aplenty, but with many security issues being something of an online issue these days, what’s a security company to do?
It turns out if you’re an always-online individual with a bit of influence and a following, the latest security efforts could be made with you squarely in mind.
Bitdefender has introduced a service focused on content creators dealing with attacks designed to take over an account. The service known as “Bitdefender Security for Creators” is a little like an internet security platform, only with a focus on creator accounts and monitoring, using AI for scam and phishing detection, and providing security for devices across Windows, Android, iOS, and Mac.
The concept basically aims to provide security for people living and making a living out of social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, specifically focusing on anti-phishing technologies to prevent clicks on scams meant to help criminals take over an account. Basically, it’s scam protection for advanced social engineering.
When an attempt is made, an alert is sent to the account holder, while scans and account health are handled from a single point: the dashboard for the user.
Bitdefender’s options also include a team protection option, which means more than one person on a social account — such as a designer or video editor — can have the service extended to cover them, as well.
From the get go, Bitdefender noted to Pickr that its creator-focused platform is primarily focused on the likes of YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, directly integrating with these three. However it notes that other platforms will be added starting next year, as the company actively supports and grows the service.
One thing you won’t see is Bitdefender’s services proactively looking for accounts designed to imitate yours, or to even use your content. Clone accounts aren’t part of the platform yet, but the company says impersonator protection is a direction is plans to explore in the future.
“Online creators are increasingly targeted by cybercriminals who weaponise trust to take over accounts and scam followers out of money or into downloading malware,” stated Ciprian Istrate, Senior Vice President of Operations for Bitdefender’s Consumer Solutions Group. “
“A single attack can wipe out years of hard work, brand reputation, and income,” he said. “Bitdefender Security for Creators offers the first end-to-end service to help safeguard creators’ accounts, content, and devices across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube – delivering continuous, always-on security as online threats evolve.”
Bitdefender’s content creator and influencer focused security platform is available now, priced from $20 per month dependent on how many platforms you’re protecting.
