Belkin switches focus with Switch 2 accessories

A couple of cases and a screen protector are on the way as Belkin expands its focus to cover portable gaming, specifically the category’s latest and greatest.

There’s a launch this week, and if you’re a gamer, you may be thrusting your hands into your pockets looking for something to spend, because the Switch 2 is out.

Hinted and previewed throughout the year, the follow-up to Nintendo’s combined portable and living room console is here, complete with a bigger screen and more power, just the thing needed to get it through the next few years.

What it doesn’t come with is what will get thrown into the category of “optional extras”, namely something to protect the console.

While the Steam Deck surprises with a carry case inside the box, Switch 2 owners will likely need to find a case fit for purpose.

But at least in some cases, “fit for purpose” can be taken literally.

Belkin’s latest gear may well be an example of that, switching up things with a foray into video game accessories and peripherals as the Switch 2 arrives.

The peripheral giant is adding a few game accessories to its line-up focused on the Switch 2, covering a variety of gadgets that can be used beyond the Switch — power banks and USB chargers — as well as a few designed solely for Nintendo’s new console.

That’ll include screen protectors to cut back on blue light and reduce reflectivity (each are different screen protectors, however), plus a couple of cases, one of which is designed to give power back. Again quite literally.

The Belkin Charging Case for the Nintendo Switch 2 is a moulded case designed to fit the specific shape of the portable console, and includes a 10K battery pack with a right-angle charging cable for easy recharging of the console. It means this specific case can be used to recharge a Switch 2 while it’s not in use.

That’s distinct to Belkin’s regular travel case for the Switch 2, which offers protection sans-power pack, and can be found for a little less: the Charging Case is $99.95 in Australia and $109.95 in New Zealand, while the basic Travel Case is $39.95 in Australia and $49.95 in New Zealand.

“With our legacy of creating products that empower people to ‘be ready for today’, we’re excited to bring Belkin’s trusted accessories into the world of gaming,” said Steve Malony, CEO of Belkin.

Both charging cases can be found online and in stores now, while the screen protectors can be found alongside, priced at $29.95 in Australia and $34.95 in New Zealand.
