There’s so much AI in Google search, what’s going on? And can it be stopped: can you turn the AI off?
The way you search online is set to get more AI as Google turns to the technology to change the experience. That’s what Google has in store for people in the coming months, and not everyone may be impressed. So what can they do?
On ABC Sydney Drive with Thomas Oriti, Pickr’s Leigh Stark will talk about the other search engines that aren’t following Google’s approach to AI and will let you turn it off, before diving into another form of technology set to use AI as well: 6G.

Dive into ABC’s Sydney Drive programme for May 28, 2026 and hear the answers, kicking off from just before the 44 minute mark (43.55).
