When a patch works, it can mean your devices get new features. But when a patch fails, it can mean your device doesn’t work in various ways, or even at all. And this week, that’s exactly what happened for people using Telstra with an iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or iPhone X.

While neither phone is particularly new, they’re also still clearly being used by plenty of people, and that’s a problem because Telstra’s network suddenly stopped working and disconnected them.

So what happened, was it more widespread than just Telstra, and what could people do?
