What happens when big technology brands disappear from the mainstream, and which companies have seen it happen already?

Technology is always changing, and sometimes it changes so much that it can be difficult to recognise the brands you know. For instance, Sony used to make TVs, but will start to use panels from TCL, while Blackberry and Nokia used to make phones. And IBM used to make personal computers — the PC — but haven’t in a while.

So what happens when companies stop, and why do they stop? And is there any risk from the big brands having the same fate happen to them?

On 3AW Mornings with Tom Elliot for July 20, we’ll dive into exactly that, and look at a sort of “where are they now” look at tech of yesterday but today. Hear the segment below to find out what was spoken about.
