If you were heading to bed on November 18 trying to work out why Spotify and X weren’t working, you had an easier time than other parts of the web. Overnight, a major outage from services provider Cloudflare took out Canva, X, Spotify, Ikea, and numerous flight services reliant on Cloudflare’s systems, as well, thanks in part to a system designed to deal with bots.
But what is Cloudflare, what are bots, and how do they all connect?
