“It cost what?!” That’s the reaction you might have when you learn just how much the Australian taxpayers have essentially paid for the new BOM website, something that doesn’t feel like much of an evolution, and by all accounts also misses the mark in other ways.
The cost was $96 million, covering design, development, build, and security, up from an initial expected cost of $4 million. Is this normal, and is it normal for development costs to balloon crazily?
