Budget and mid-range phones don’t typically handle water or drops well. At $299, the Moto G57 is trying something different.
Spend a lot of money on a phone and you’ll probably end up with something that’s not only feature packed, but also somewhat resistant.
Few phones are drop proof, but that’s invariably the part that you’ll protect with a case. Really, it’s the water resistance we look for, because accidents can and will happen.
And that just almost never exists in phones below $500. It’s even less likely below three hundred.
But interestingly, Motorola once offered was resistant in a mid-range options years ago. Back in 2015, the Moto G3 came with IPX7 water resistance, a sort of feature that almost never occurs and has since largely been skipped by Motorola.

This year, though, there’s a little more to it as Motorola brings water resistance to the line-up with a little more durability for good measure.
Motorola’s $299 Moto G57 will support IP64 water resistance as well as Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i, a glass covering that supports improved drop durability for its 6.72 inch Full HD+ screen, as well as being military spec certified at MIL-STD-810H.
Inside, there’s a properly mid-range processor with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, plus a 5200 mAh battery on the back, and two cameras you can actually use on its three camera setup. There’s a 50 megapixel main camera and an 8 megapixel ultra-wide, but the last “third” camera is a light sensor, so it’s really just two cameras.

While under $300 might seem like an inexpensive price for Motorola’s G57, the red flag is memory: with only 4GB RAM, it might end up being a little slow at times, something the processor will only help so much with.
But if durability and price are the things that matter most, Motorola’s G57 might just be attractive enough, and available now at electronic retailers across the country.
