New phones are only a few days away, as Samsung hints at what we can expect from a mid-year foldable phone launch with Unpacked 2025.
It’s the middle of the year, and while the first batch of the year’s phones are out and available, there are still clearly more on the way.
The back half of the year is known for some of the more high profile releases, what with the Pixel phones, a few iPhones, and also the abundance of foldables we typically see, This year, that abundance of folding phone designs will start with Samsung, which could have as many as three or four new phones to show off, and maybe even a massive device meant to show the future of foldable hardware between work and play, something the company alluded to recently.
And early July could be the time we’ll see it, as Samsung talks up its next launch, Galaxy Unpacked 2025.
It’ll be the second major Galaxy event of the year, after seeing the Galaxy S25 range earlier in the year and receiving the S25 Edge a few months later. This time, thin will likely be in with a different view, as foldables reign and Samsung shows what the seventh-generation of its hardware can look like.
AI will play a part, something Samsung says will revolve around “a new AI-powered interface”, and while successors to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 are likely expected in Flip 7 and Fold 7 models, we could also see a move by Samsung to make the foldable world a little more cost effective. A Galaxy Flip FE could be on the cards, much like how Motorola released a less-“ultra” Razr 50 of the Razr 50 Ultra last year.
As with most product announcements, the new phones will likely take some time to trickle out, but the good news is you probably won’t have to wait long to find out what’s new and coming.
Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event for foldable is planned for July 10 at midnight Sydney time, meaning we should have some indication of pricing and availability by the time you wake up that day.
